President of the USA Donald Trump announced that America will sign a ceasefire agreement with Iran on June 14.

The President of the USA wrote about this on the Truth Social network.

Trump stated that “Iran no longer wants to develop nuclear weapons” and that “the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all”.

In case of Iran’s refusal to reach an agreement with the USA, Trump threatens the country with “the ultimate alternative”. He also noted that the USA hopes for “partnership” with Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated on June 13 that the agreement “will have to wait” and “it won’t be tomorrow”. But they also stated that “the possibility of it happening in the coming days cannot be ruled out”. Reuters reports the statement of the MFA of Iran.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is participating in the negotiations between Iran and the USA, Shehbaz Sharif, stated that both sides have agreed on the framework for a peace agreement and that the country is preparing for an electronic signing on June 14, after which technical-level negotiations will take place next week.

On June 11, the USA was preparing new strikes on Iran, and Trump also made statements about possible attacks on the country’s oil infrastructure and increased military pressure. But on the same day, Trump canceled his decision to attack Iran.

Military operation of Israel and the USA against Iran

On February 28, Israel attacked the Iranian capital, Tehran. Subsequently, US President Donald Trump announced that the American military had launched a “major combat operation” against Iran with the aim of “eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime”. He accused the Iranian authorities of “financing and training” militants in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Hamas in Palestine. According to him, the goal of the military operation is to “destroy Iran’s missile industry and fleet”, as well as “ensure the impossibility of destabilizing the world”.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched missiles and drones towards Israel, and also attacked American military bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The European Union stated that it confirms “unwavering commitment to ensuring regional security and stability” in the Middle East.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that it is fair to give Iranians a chance to get rid of the “terrorist regime and guarantee security to all peoples who have suffered from attacks from Iran”.

On February 28, Trump announced that the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was dead. Later, this information was confirmed by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

On March 1, the IRGC announced that it was launching “the most destructive offensive operation in the history of the Islamic Republic” against Israel and “American terrorist bases”. Trump called on the Iranian regime to abandon these plans and threatened to deliver “a very strong blow” in response.

On March 6, Trump announced the necessity of a complete change of leadership in Iran, adding that he already has several candidates for the role of a “good leader”. On March 8, the Assembly of Experts of Iran elected the son of the assassinated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the third supreme leader of the Islamic Republic.

On March 26, President Trump announced that he was suspending the destruction of Iranian energy facilities until April 6. However, due to the lack of progress in concluding the agreement, Trump extended the deadline by 20 hours – until the evening of April 7.

Trump threatened to destroy all bridges and power plants in Iran, as well as take other measures that would have devastating consequences for Iranians and provoke a dangerous response throughout the region.

On April 6, Iran provided the USA and Israel with a separate 10-point plan to end the war through Pakistan.

On April 7, Trump announced that he had agreed to suspend the bombing of Iran and postpone the “devastating attack” on it for two weeks, provided that the Strait of Hormuz would be unblocked. According to him, the ceasefire would be bilateral, and Iran’s 10-point proposal is an acceptable basis for negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks is possible “under conditions of coordination with the Iranian armed forces and taking into account technical limitations”.

On May 1, the head of the White House informed Congress that the combat operations between the USA and Iran, which began on February 28, had ceased. At the same time, American troops would still be present in the region.

On May 23, Trump announced that he had held negotiations with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding a memorandum of understanding on peace with Iran. According to him, the parties have largely agreed on an agreement, which, among other things, provides for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
