The military command of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skela” responded to materials actively spread by Russian resources regarding the capture of Ukrainian defenders during the battles for Kostiantynivka. This refers to the fighters who went to clear the center of Kostiantynivka and took photos with the Ukrainian flag afterward.

This was stated by the 425th Assault Regiment “Skela”.

Were Ukrainian fighters captured in Kostiantynivka: Statement from “Skela”

The regiment notes that all circumstances of the event are currently being clarified, but details of the military operation in the city are not being disclosed for security reasons.

At the same time, the unit emphasizes that the enemy is trying to use this local incident for disinformation and to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Russian propaganda is trying to present a specific episode of the battle as a refutation of the results of the entire operation in Kostiantynivka. This is manipulation. The fighting for the city continues, and individual successes or losses of the sides do not change the overall picture of the battle. For the regiment, the capture of comrades-in-arms is extremely painful news. But the most important thing is that our fighters remained alive, and the regiment will facilitate all necessary procedures for their speedy return home,” the “Skela” wrote.

The regiment added that during the same battles, Ukrainian fighters managed to capture two Russians. They emphasized that the fighting was fierce, and therefore cannot be reduced to a single episode used by Russian propaganda.

“War is not made up only of victories. Successful completion of a combat mission does not mean the absence of losses. After any clearance, the enemy tries to regain lost positions and conducts counterattacks,” the “Skela” wrote.

The regiment added that the demonstration of Ukrainian prisoners of war does not indicate the capture of Kostiantynivka or the defeat of the regiment. Russian occupiers continue to use prisoners of war as an instrument of information warfare.

The regiment wrote that they await the return of every soldier.

Yesterday, July 19, Russian propagandists massively published videos with supposedly two Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russians during a clearance in the center of Kostiantynivka. In the video spread by Russians, two fighters with Ukrainian flags, to which photos of Zelensky and Syrsky were attached, said that they were allegedly sent to Kostiantynivka, knowing that Russian troops were present there.

Russian propaganda resources report that the Ukrainian fighters who recorded the video from Kostiantynivka were allegedly captured by the Russians the next day.

The prisoners were forced to thank the 4th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation, throw away the Ukrainian flag, and pick up the Russian tricolor.

“Skela” fighters cleared the center of Kostiantynivka

We remind you that Ukrainian soldiers from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skela” cleared the central part of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region from the occupiers. To confirm the successful operation, the fighters raised the state flag of Ukraine over one of the city’s buildings.

The regiment’s Telegram channel also published a video of the combat work. The footage shows how Russian soldiers tried to accumulate in private buildings, after which drones struck them and other enemy positions in Kostiantynivka.
