From January to August 2026, servicemen of the Air Assault Forces and other involved units conducted a successful offensive operation in the Oleksandriv direction.
“Thanks to the active actions of our troops, we managed to significantly strike the occupying contingent. Russian losses amounted to at least 9550 killed and over 6600 wounded. There was also an replenishment of the exchange fund for Ukraine,” summarized the operation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He emphasized that during the operation, an area of 745 square kilometers was liberated. Twenty-six villages in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions were returned under Ukraine’s control.
“This offensive operation of ours was carried out precisely as defined,” the president concluded.
In total, during the offensive operation, control was re-established over 12 settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 10 in the Donetsk region, and 4 in the Zaporizhzhia region, and the search and destruction of enemy forces that infiltrated the rear zone was carried out over an area of more than 300 sq. km, according to the command of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Settlements under the control of military units and subunits of the Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine include: Rybne, Maliivka, Sichneve, Ternove, Novohiorhiivka, Zaporizke,” the message on the Telegram channel states.
The Air Assault Forces emphasized that the success of the operation was made possible by thorough planning at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels, effective work of the staffs, all types of intelligence, continuous collection and analysis of information about the enemy, quality training of personnel, skillful organization of fire engagement, logistical support, and clear interaction between all components of the grouping.
“Every stage of the operation was planned down to the smallest detail. Coordinated work of the staffs, intelligence, units of combined fire support, and assault groups allowed us to maintain the initiative, impose our own tempo of combat on the enemy, and successfully accomplish the assigned combat tasks,” noted the Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Apostol.
The core of the strike group consists of military units of the Air Assault Forces, which, together with units of the assault forces and other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, successfully broke through the enemy’s defenses, overcame their resistance, and accomplished the assigned combat tasks.
“Currently, Ukrainian soldiers continue to build on the success of the offensive operation and methodically destroy the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces,” the Air Assault Forces stressed.
