Зі скриньки монархині: прикраси королеви Єлизавети II, які носила принцеса Кейт.

The Princess of Wales, Kate, has appeared in public many times wearing jewelry belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth II. We recall the most iconic pieces from the royal jewelry box in which we have already seen the princess.

The late monarch possessed a vast collection of jewelry. Even during her lifetime, Elizabeth II often lent family treasures to her daughters-in-law and other royal relatives. Today, these pieces can also be seen thanks to the Princess of Wales, Catherine, who frequently pays tribute to the grandmother of her husband, the Prince of Wales, William.

This is the very tiara that Kate Middleton wore to her wedding with Prince William in April 2011. Although we never saw Queen Elizabeth II wear it in public, it is known that the Cartier Halo was a favorite of her sister, Princess Margaret, and also of the monarch’s daughter, Princess Anne, in her youth. Catherine borrowed this tiara from the Queen for her wedding day.

The leaf-shaped diamond and pearl earrings are unmistakably recognizable due to their size and unique design. A court jeweler once suggested that these earrings are detachable elements from the late monarch’s diamond and pearl leaf brooch.

Queen Elizabeth II wore them to a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting dinner in 2003, and Kate first showcased them at a Remembrance Day service in 2023, offering a subtle tribute to the late Queen.

The Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace

This necklace was a wedding gift to Princess Elizabeth on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947. It is one of the most valuable royal jewels in the world, with an estimated worth of £66 million ($89 million USD). According to InStyle, this diamond and platinum creation by Cartier is worn extremely rarely, but when it is brought out of storage, it invariably captures attention.

It was with this necklace that Queen Elizabeth II posed for a 1952 portrait by photographer Dorothy Wilding, which was later used on postage stamps from 1953 to 1971.

The Princess of Wales wore the necklace to a gala at the National Portrait Gallery and a diplomatic reception in 2019.

Japanese Pearl Choker Necklace

The Japanese pearl choker necklace, likely crafted from pearls, was a gift to Queen Elizabeth II from the Japanese government in the 1970s. This distinctive four-strand necklace with a diamond clasp was seen on Elizabeth and her late daughter-in-law, Princess Diana, throughout the 80s and 90s.

These earrings once belonged to Dame Margaret Greville. Upon her death in 1942, she bequeathed her jewelry collection to Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The late Queen Elizabeth II wore the Greville chandelier earrings in the latter half of her reign, and her daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, recently captivated everyone with her stunning outfit on the red carpet at the 2026 BAFTA Awards ceremony, accessorizing it with these magnificent earrings.

If Queen Elizabeth II had to wear only one piece of jewelry for the rest of her life, she would likely have chosen her signature three-strand pearl necklace. Princess Kate wore one of the Queen’s most cherished necklaces on a particularly poignant occasion – a reception to mark the 100th anniversary of Her Majesty’s birth.

The Emerald Tassel earrings, part of the so-called “Emerald Suite” collection, are crafted with pear-shaped stones and hanging tassels. They are very striking, but the Princess of Wales is rarely seen wearing them. Queen Elizabeth II first wore them in the late 1980s, and Kate wore them during the Caribbean royal tour in 2022.
