Co-founder of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, has shared images of a device that outwardly resembles the yet-to-be-announced Google Pixel Watch 5. According to him, the watch was discovered during a scuba diving excursion near the island of Saint Martin in the Caribbean Sea.
A friend of mine found this watch a few days ago ~underwater~ when he was scuba diving near the island of St. Martin. The published photos display the rear of the device with inscriptions “Google” and “Pixel Watch 5”. Markings for SpO2, EDA, skin temperature, and heart rate sensors, as well as UWB support, are also discernible.
The casing indicates an IP68 protection rating. The device’s appearance aligns with the design of previous Pixel Watch generations and suggests a sample that is nearly ready for production.
Pitchford later reported that the watch’s owner has been located, and arrangements are being made to return the device. He did not specify how the Pixel Watch 5 ended up on the seabed or confirm if the device truly belongs to a Google employee or a partner company.
Google has not yet announced the Pixel Watch 5. Prior to this, information regarding the company’s next-generation smartwatch had been scarce in leaks.
The Pixel Watch 4 was unveiled in October 2025. If Google maintains its typical update cycle, the announcement of the Pixel Watch 5 is still several months away.
