On June 6th, Israel conducted an airstrike on southern Lebanon, three days after a ceasefire agreement was reached. The attack resulted in the deaths of nine people.

This is reported by the Associated Press.

The Lebanese army stated that an airstrike on a vehicle on the road connecting Nabatieh to Marjayoun claimed the lives of a Brigadier General, a Captain, and another soldier. Another airstrike in the village of Saksakiyah resulted in six fatalities and four injuries.

The Israeli army confirmed the strike on the vehicle, asserting that it was moving “suspiciously” and that Lebanese soldiers were allegedly preparing an attack on Israeli forces near the village of Kfar Tibnit.

On June 4th, representatives from Lebanon and Israel agreed to a ceasefire following negotiations in the United States held on June 2nd and 3rd. Both sides also declared no hostile intentions towards each other and expressed readiness to continue the negotiation process. Hezbollah has not yet officially commented on this statement.

On June 2nd, U.S. President Donald Trump reprimanded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call concerning Israel’s escalation in Lebanon.

Trump’s anger appeared to stem from concerns that Netanyahu’s decision to escalate the conflict in Lebanon risked derailing his negotiations with Iran. After the call, Trump wrote on Truth Social that negotiations with Iran were “moving along very quickly.”

On June 1st, Trump stated that Israeli troops heading to Lebanon were “already returning.”

On May 27th, Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon led to dozens of deaths. The country’s Ministry of Health claims 31 people perished, including children among the victims.
