Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that after Germany, Ukraine should be the next country to launch its own production of missiles for Patriot systems, and for the start, only Donald Trump’s personal approval is currently needed.

The administration of the US President has for the first time given a positive signal regarding Ukraine’s request for licenses for joint production of modern air defense systems and missiles for them. Previously, official Washington avoided specifics on this issue.
This was shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with TSN anchor Alla Mazur, summarizing the results of negotiations on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
According to the Ukrainian leader, a breakthrough was achieved during bilateral negotiations with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The American side assured that they would resolve this issue for Kyiv.
“This time, by the way, it became quite public, so there are no secrets here, that the American team responded positively to the licenses for the first time. For the first time, because it was always: ‘well, we don’t know’, ‘well, maybe, we’ll see’,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ukraine needs Donald Trump’s personal “ok”
The head of state explained that the need to expand production is critical, as the capacities in the US itself are currently limited and do not exceed 700 missiles per year. Earlier, Washington had already granted corresponding licenses to Germany, which launched its own production, and Ukraine has already signed a major contract with Berlin for the supply of 600 missiles.
The next step should be the launch of production lines in Ukraine, which has all the necessary potential for this.
“Everyone agrees that apart from the Germans in Europe, we have all the technical capabilities to start producing missiles for Patriot systems. For this, I need licenses from the US. We need an ‘ok’ personally from Trump now – everyone else agrees,” summarized the President of Ukraine.
We remind you that the deployment of licensed production of American weapons directly on Ukrainian territory is part of Kyiv’s strategy to ensure the country’s long-term security and reduce dependence on direct supplies from allies.
