The leader of the deputies from the French “National Rally” Marine Le Pen has announced that she will participate in the 2027 presidential elections in France.

She stated this on the air of TF1.

“I want to use all legal means to prove my innocence in this case. Tonight, I am a candidate,” Le Pen said.

She also stated that she would file an appeal with the Court of Cassation. According to the politician, she has no intention of giving up the fight, despite the verdict and the risk of its confirmation.

Le Pen emphasized that “the French will have the final say,” and being barred from the elections, in her opinion, would be “a huge democratic problem.”

Separately, she commented on the political partnership with the head of the “National Rally,” Jordan Bardella. Le Pen called their alliance a “reliable duo of prime minister and president” and confirmed that if she wins, Bardella will become prime minister.

“We have a solution, and this duo is a winning one. It’s even a winning ticket,” Le Pen stated.

She added that she and Bardella “complement each other” and their presidential campaign will begin “very soon.”

Earlier, on July 7, a Paris court upheld the conviction of the leader of the French far-right, Marine Le Pen, but reduced the ban on holding elected office.

What is known about Marine Le Pen’s party

Marine Le Pen leads the “National Rally” party, founded by her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, a deputy of the French and European Parliaments, who ran for president of France three times. In 2002, he reached the second round of the elections, where he lost to Jacques Chirac. His daughter, Marine Le Pen, repeated her father’s experience twice, losing in the second round to Emmanuel Macron in the 2017 and 2022 presidential elections.

Marine Le Pen supported Russia’s foreign policy regarding Ukraine and Syria and repeatedly spoke out against anti-Russian sanctions. In March 2025, a court found her guilty of embezzling nearly three million euros of European Parliament funds. The politician was sentenced to four years of probation and a five-year disqualification from public service, which deprived her of the right to run in the 2027 presidential elections. Le Pen’s lawyer has filed an appeal.

Following the early parliamentary elections in 2024, announced after President Macron dissolved parliament, Le Pen’s party received over 33% in the first round, but after the second round, it only secured third place in terms of the number of seats won.

In November 2025, Le Pen stated that she would not participate in the 2027 presidential elections if the appellate court did not overturn her ban from participating in the elections. In that case, she would hand over leadership to her associate Bardella.
