The appointment of Drapati among the young officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was met mostly positively.

Andriy Onistrat, an officer of the Central Department of Innovative Activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and founder of the “Shershni Dovbusha” strike drone battalion, stated that the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapati, is inheriting the army in a difficult state.
He made this statement on the air of “Vechir.LIVE”.
According to Onistrat, Drapati faces an extremely challenging task, as the Ukrainian military is exhausted from prolonged hostilities, and the situation on the front remains tense.
“He is taking over the army in a difficult state: everyone is tired, infiltration on all fronts. It’s quite tough,” the officer said.
He also noted that, in his opinion, the opportunities for actively using long-range strike capabilities, which have recently emerged, might be time-limited.
“And physically, the window of opportunity that opened in early May with strikes, middlestrikes, deepstrikes, in my opinion, will soon close. Therefore, he has a difficult situation ahead of him, it’s very responsible, and it’s a truly arduous task,” Onistrat stated.
At the same time, the founder of “Shershni Dovbusha” mentioned that among the young officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Drapati’s appointment was received mostly favorably. According to him, the military anticipates changes in the approaches to army management.
“Young officers, those who became officers during the full-scale invasion, they support this change, of course. And I’ll say that many are practically celebrating. There are congratulations, there are hopes, there are some hopes for changes – such are the reactions to the new appointment,” he noted.
Onistrat also confirmed that the appointment of Mykhailo Drapati as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine might influence his own decision regarding further service in the army.
We remind you that Andriy Onistrat previously reported submitting a resignation request from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He cited his transfer to the 17th Army Corps for a position he described as “chief paper-pusher” as the reason for this decision. Onistrat suggested that such a transfer might have been linked to his public support for the former Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov.
