Ukrainian investigative authorities are examining the potential involvement of Hlib Novostroinyi, a former member of the KRAKEN unit, in the murder of Ihor Komarov on the island of Bali, Indonesia.
This information was provided by sources to “Ukrainska Pravda.”
According to investigators, Novostroinyi was in Bali from January 31st to February 19th, 2026. During this same period, his long-time friend, Denys Halushko, who is currently wanted internationally by Interpol, was also on the Indonesian island.
It has been documented that they were simultaneously present on Bali and left the island together. It was during this timeframe that Indonesian law enforcement officially informed Halushko of suspicions regarding the murder of Ihor Komarov.
As UP sources indicate, upon returning to Ukraine, Novostroinyi remained at his residence for approximately two weeks, avoiding contact and staying indoors. The publication also added that on July 30th, he was detained in Kyiv on suspicion of committing offenses under other articles of the Criminal Code, after which a court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of night-time house arrest.
During investigative actions, law enforcement seized the suspect’s mobile phone, which yielded evidence of his presence in Bali and his potential connection to the brutal murder of Komarov.
“Currently, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are urgently preparing an international legal request to transmit the obtained information to their Bali counterparts and to gather further evidence regarding Hlib Novostroinyi’s potential involvement in Ihor Komarov’s murder,” stated a source to the publication.
Important Note: Sources from TSN.ua within the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) report that Hlib Novostroinyi currently has no affiliation with the agency.
“Novostroinyi Hlib Serhiiovych, born 02.08.1991, was enrolled in the lists of the ‘Kraken’ military unit on 24.02.2022 and served in the capacity of a staff member with the rank of soldier,” the statement from TSN.ua sources in the GUR reads.
The agency clarified that Novostroinyi was removed from the “Kraken” military unit’s lists on October 23rd, 2025, due to health reasons.
