The government is developing supplementary support mechanisms for affected enterprises, diversifying supply routes, and identifying alternative operational sites. Concurrently, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) will serve as the coordinating body for the physical safeguarding of logistical infrastructure, prompt responses to attacks, and the restoration of damaged facilities, as stated by NSDC Secretary Ihor Klymenko.
“We also discussed the expansion of private air defense systems to enhance protection against attacks,” he posted on Telegram on Thursday, following a meeting with representatives of Ukrainian businesses. This session also included Deputy Head of the President’s Office Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Environmental Protection, Deputy Head of the State Tax Service, military personnel, and representatives of the State Emergency Service.
The NSDC Secretary acknowledged that Russia’s extensive strikes on Ukrainian warehouses and logistics hubs represent one of the most significant challenges to the economy and a further manifestation of Russian terrorism.
Klymenko emphasized that the primary objective is to align the efforts of the state and the business community and to devise concrete solutions for the protection of critical assets.
“Therefore, we are working on relevant decisions. These will be ratified at meetings of the NSDC and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff,” he noted.
As previously reported, the maritime corridor ceased operations on July 22nd, following enemy attacks.
Subsequently, on the night of August 5th, Russia launched its most substantial ballistic strike of the war on logistics and distribution facilities near Kyiv. Companies that are leaders in their respective sectors reported the destruction of their facilities: the marketplace Rozetka, Nova Poshta, retail chains Epicenter, Fozzy, and Novus, sellers of automotive chemicals LIQUI MOLY, auto parts suppliers Toyota-Ukraine and Bosch Ukraine, and apparel and footwear retailers Intertop and Puma.
The day prior, the enemy targeted Dnipro, after which the largest Ukrainian manufacturer of household goods, Biosphere, the leading ice cream producer Lasunka, and the chocolate manufacturer Millennium reported the destruction of their warehouses on social media.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with affected businesses afterward and announced that the government would organize similar meetings weekly to ensure the uninterrupted operation of logistics and trade companies.
Furthermore, the parliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy organized discussions on these issues on August 10th. Over 250 representatives from business and government, including the Ministry of Economy, the National Bank, and the State Tax Service, participated.
The main proposals from the business sector include increased credit support, the arrangement of insurance, tax holidays, a moratorium on inspections, assistance with alternative logistical spaces and routes, and facilitating the storage of goods abroad for subsequent import into Ukraine.
