The Russian Federation has carried out a series of strikes on Ukraine’s railway system.

During the night of August 22nd, Russian forces launched further attacks on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure. Specifically, in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv, the enemy targeted a railway enterprise with ballistic weaponry.

This was reported by Oleksandr Petrovsky.

As a result of the strike, a railway worker, a foreman, was killed. He died at the scene. Other employees were promptly evacuated after the initial attack.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that they are currently determining the exact time of the strike in relation to the ballistic threat announcement.

“Our utmost concern and support go to the family of the railway worker tragically killed by the enemy. We stand with them to navigate this difficult period and beyond,” the company emphasized.

The Odesa railway was also affected by the attacks. At the Rozdilna station, the station building sustained damage.

Railway workers are already working swiftly to rectify the consequences of the attack. Ukrzaliznytsia stated that the enemy failed to achieve its objective of halting train movement.

As previously noted, Russia consistently targets Ukraine’s railway system, attempting not just to damage individual facilities but to exert continuous pressure on the transportation network. According to expert Vitaliy Kulyk, the Russian Federation may aim to encircle key Ukrainian transport routes. The most significant threat is the gradual disruption of critical infrastructure, which could eventually lead to a partial paralysis of the country’s logistics.
