The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced that Moscow is ready to assist the USA, Iran, and the Persian Gulf states in providing a “platform for peaceful dialogue.” However, the Russian authorities “will not impose themselves.”

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Alimov in an interview with the Russian newspaper “Izvestia.”

“Russia, as a key player in the UN, does not stand aside and is ready to work towards de-escalation between Iran, the USA, as well as the Persian Gulf countries. […] (We – ed.) are ready to facilitate a peaceful resolution of differences both between the USA and Iran, and between Iranians and Arabs. We will be happy to provide a platform for Arab-Iranian dialogue, but we have no intention of imposing ourselves,” he said.

The official also stated that other countries, including Russia, have allegedly been involved in the peace process.

“We maintain contact with all interested parties, including Islamabad, Riyadh, and Ankara. We know that efforts to bring the parties back to negotiations are ongoing,” Alimov added.

The situation between the USA and Iran in the Middle East

On June 18, the USA and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war in the Middle East. However, due to attacks by Iranian military vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on July 6, the parties began to exchange blows again. American troops are striking Iranian military facilities, and they, in turn, are shelling US bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait.

On July 8, White House head Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran is no longer in effect.

Subsequently, the Iranian government promised to attack “all infrastructure” in the Strait of Hormuz region if the USA continued to establish control there.

In addition, the supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that he would take revenge for the compatriots who died as a result of the American-Israeli operation against Iran, including for his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died at the beginning of the hostilities at the end of February 2026.
