Croatian developer Bruno Škvorc, known for his contributions to Polygon, Polkadot, and Ethereum 2.0 networks, has accused World Liberty Financial — a platform associated with former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family — of unlawfully withholding his assets.
Škvorc, founder of RMRK, a company integrating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into gaming metaverses, shared a letter from the World Liberty Financial team indicating his address was flagged as “high-risk.” The platform informed him that his WLFI tokens would remain frozen, prompting Škvorc to allege theft. He claims to be among six investors whose tokens were blocked from the outset.
Škvorc’s transaction allegedly involved the Tornado Cash crypto mixer. Additionally, the platform’s team cited indirect links to sanctioned entities Garantex and Netex24, along with use of an unspecified service blacklisted by World Liberty Financial.
“They stole my funds. Since this involves a U.S. president’s family, I have no recourse. It’s next-level mafia tactics. There’s no one to complain to, argue with, or take to court. Accepting money from my address wasn’t high-risk for them, but returning my own tokens suddenly is,” Škvorc condemned.
Independent blockchain investigator ZachXBT noted that automated compliance tools used by platforms like WLFI remain flawed. These systems often mislabel addresses as high-risk for trivial reasons — such as interactions with DeFi protocols or exchanges — without proper justification.
On Friday, September 5, Tron founder Justin Sun, a major WLFI investor, also reported token freezes. His address was blacklisted after transferring $9 million in WLFI tokens. Sun labeled the action unjustified, demanding their release and criticizing the platform for contradicting blockchain’s foundational principles.
World Liberty Financial recently disclosed blacklisting 272 crypto addresses, outlining its rationale for restrictions. The platform maintains it has no intention of harming users.
