The world has definitively crossed a threshold and entered the most perilous phase of a historical cycle — the so-called “Fourth Turning,” which will be accompanied by large-scale wars, economic collapse, and the dismantling of the current world order.

This is according to a detailed analytical article for the platform The Burning Platform by renowned financial and social commentator Jim Quinn, as reported by ZeroHedge.

The analyst relies on the concept of researchers Neil Howe and William Strauss, who describe 80-year historical cycles. According to Quinn, the current crisis, which commenced during the 2008 financial collapse, is reaching its bloody apex and will persist at least until the early 2030s.

Geopolitical Illusions and Destabilization

Quinn notes that hopes for a swift resolution of international conflicts through simple agreements have proven illusory. Attempts to balance between opposing sides — from dialogue efforts regarding the war in Ukraine (including talks in Anchorage, Alaska) to escalation in the Middle East — have merely postponed the inevitable confrontation.

According to the author, key geopolitical players have fallen into a trap of their own making:

  • Economic Pressure: The escalating US national debt, approaching critical levels, and multi-trillion dollar deficits render the US financial system extremely fragile.

  • Energy Crisis: Any flare-ups around the Strait of Hormuz or Middle Eastern logistical routes instantly shatter the illusion of cheap fuel, triggering a new wave of global inflation.

  • Military Stalemate: Proxy confrontations and localized conflicts are gradually merging into a single global theater of operations, extending from Eastern Europe to the Middle East and East Asia.

War of Resources and High Technologies

The commentator emphasizes that every “Fourth Turning” in history has been accompanied by a leap in destructive technologies and a readiness by leaders to employ them. Currently, the world is witnessing the total dominance of drones, digital surveillance, and the threat of weapons of mass destruction if any side finds itself in a desperate situation.

“History offers no guarantees. The risk of catastrophe is extraordinarily high. If a war of this cycle ignites, it is always a war of maximum risk and effort — that is, total war,” Quinn reminds, quoting from the theory of Strauss and Howe.

Loss of Control and the “Denial Phase”

In the author’s opinion, ordinary Western citizens remain in a state of “psychological denial,” hoping that normal life will resume on its own. However, the decline of institutions, the erosion of the free market in favor of corporate protectionism, and the growing societal fragmentation indicate that a return to the past will not occur.

Quinn concludes: the coming years will demand exceptional resilience from society, as overcoming a systemic crisis of this magnitude always involves severe trials and a restructuring of the entire world order.

As a reminder, the publication listed the six most dangerous countries if World War III were to begin. This list of the most dangerous countries in the event of World War III includes the USA and the aggressor nation Russia, while Switzerland is considered the safest place during military operations.
