The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the candidacy of Timur Tkachenko for the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (ROVA) instead of Mykola Kalashnyk, who became the Minister of Reconstruction and Infrastructure in the new government.

This was announced on July 22 by the government’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.

Until now, Timur Tkachenko held the position of head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (K CMA). The President dismissed him from this post after the update of the Cabinet of Ministers on July 16.

Andriy Tkachov has been appointed as the interim acting head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. He was the first deputy head of the KCMA.

What is known about Timur Tkachenko

On December 31, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Tkachenko as the new head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. Previously, he was the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. Since October 2022, the KCMA was headed by Colonel-General Serhiy Popko, but he was dismissed on December 31.

While holding the position of head of the KCMA, Timur Tkachenko repeatedly had public disputes with the mayor Vitali Klitschko.

In particular, Vitali Klitschko had previously appealed to the president regarding the activities of the head of the KCMA, Timur Tkachenko. According to him, an attempt is being made in Kyiv to unbalance power and destroy local self-government. Timur Tkachenko, among other things, accused the KMDA of attempting to disrupt the installation of mobile shelters.
