Venezuela and Israel have agreed to re-establish consular services in each country. This will happen for the first time since 2009, when Venezuela severed ties with Israel over its strikes in Gaza.

The Venezuelan government, currently led by interim president Delcy Rodríguez, stated that following devastating earthquakes, an Israeli humanitarian delegation visited the country in June, and high-ranking officials from both nations held talks, culminating in an agreement to reinstate consular services.
“Both governments recognize the significance of the relationship between the State of Israel and the Jewish community of Venezuela, which serves as a vital historical bridge of friendship between the two nations,” reads a statement from the Venezuelan government, also released by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
