American far-right activist and blogger Laura Loomer, who previously criticized Ukraine for years, stated that she has revised her views after a personal trip to the country.
She shared this in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda, published on July 28.
According to Loomer, her personal experience of being in Ukraine during Russian air attacks was a decisive factor.
“Seeing the destruction from ballistic missiles, and also having to go down to a bomb shelter myself – it really changed my perception. I realized that Ukrainians have every right to defend themselves against Russian aggression,” she said.
She added that there is a narrative in the US that Ukrainians do not like America or are hostile towards it, but after her trip, she changed her opinion because, as the blogger put it, “this is absolutely not true.”
Loomer also admitted that she had previously largely formed her understanding of the war from Russian sources. Due to being blocked on most social media platforms, she had been using only Telegram for a long time and, according to her, received a lot of information from the Russian state channel RT (Russia Today).
The blogger noted that she is not sure if she can convince other American conservatives to change their attitude towards Ukraine, but she urged them to critically re-evaluate their information sources.
“They will have to do what I did: admit that they might have believed Russian propaganda and rethink their views,” Loomer said.
According to her, after returning to the US, she would advise President Donald Trump to personally visit Ukraine and support the provision of aid to Kyiv.
Earlier, after her trip to Ukraine, Laura Loomer also publicly called on the US to provide Ukraine with additional missiles for Patriot air defense systems, stating that they are purely defensive weapons and help protect the civilian population.
Who is Laura Loomer
Laura Loomer is an American blogger and far-right political activist, close to US President Donald Trump. She has nearly two million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and also hosts a podcast. In her profile description, Loomer calls herself an investigative journalist and a supporter of the “America First” principle, which is the cornerstone of the MAGA movement.
As recently as September 2025, Loomer responded to a post by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on X by writing that “Ukraine is a country full of neo-Nazis.” Before that, she had also repeatedly spoken out against financial aid to Kyiv.
On July 21, Loomer arrived in Ukraine and announced that she wanted to see the situation with her own eyes and verify the claims being spread about the country. She stated this on social media with the caption: “I am not in Russia because I am not a propagandist.” Prior to this, in June, Loomer stated in an episode of her podcast that she had “fallen for Russian propaganda” and admitted that because of this, she had long repeated anti-Ukrainian narratives. After arriving in Ukraine, she immediately acknowledged her mistake in her earlier public statements about Ukraine.
On July 23, Loomer visited the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and inspected the Dormition Cathedral, which lost over 80% of its roof after an attack on June 15, as well as other damaged structures within the reserve.
