Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, commented on the alleged publication of lists of prisoners of war by Russia. He described it as another enemy information operation aimed at destabilization and disruption of negotiations on exchanges.
Andriy Yusov shared this information in a commentary to Suspilne.
These “lists of prisoners of war for exchange” were disseminated by the Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation, Yana Larpatova, on her Telegram channel.
“Every time during the negotiation process, while working on preparations for future exchanges, the enemy regularly uses information, conducts information operations, disinformation, and propaganda to destabilize the situation, disrupt negotiations, and influence Ukrainian society. This time, it’s happening again,” said Andriy Yusov.
Yusov stated that exchange lists and the ombudsman’s instrument have repeatedly become subjects of manipulation by the Russian Federation. He emphasized that Russia employs such tactics to wage war against Ukraine, including hybrid, cognitive, and information warfare.
“This is all informational noise. And it’s important to perceive it exactly that way. Trust only verified, authenticated sources of information, namely official Ukrainian media that are responsible for the information they provide. And understand that the process is ongoing, negotiations are underway,” said Andriy Yusov.
The representative of the GUR stressed that humanitarian issues, prisoner exchange matters, missing persons, and civilians illegally detained by Russians are also exploited by Russia against Ukraine.
“Ukraine fights for the return of every single person. And everyone for whom information exists, who is known, is submitted for return and exchange,” emphasized Andriy Yusov.
The previous prisoner exchange took place on June 26. 160 soldiers, who had been held captive since 2022, were returned to Ukraine. This was the 76th prisoner exchange between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
