“П’ємо власну сечу”: бійці 121-ї бригади звернулися до Драпатого, бригада дала відповідь

The commander reported 12 days without water and food and asked the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Drapatiy, for safe evacuation.

The commander of the fire support platoon of the 121st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, Anatoliy Sashchuk, appealed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, due to problems with the provision of military personnel in the Zaporizhzhia direction. According to him, the fighters have been in their positions for a long time without sufficient water, food, and medicine.

This is stated in a video message from Anatoliy Sashchuk, which he published on August 9.

Soldiers of the 121st brigade appealed to Drapatiy

Sashchuk, in particular, stated that his unit has been in positions since April 2026. According to the soldier, it was initially a one-month assignment to replace fighters who had been in positions for eight months without rotation.

“We arrived on assignment to replace seven soldiers who had been in positions for eight months without rotation. And the term of our assignment, as we were told, was one month. But we have been in positions since April,” Sashchuk said.

According to him, problems arose with the supply of drinking water and food at the positions.

“We were told that supply and logistics were set up and everything was dropped from drones. And that’s not true either. We are currently in a shelter we found. We have had no food and drinking water for three to seven days. When I was in another position, my personnel did not receive any drinking water or food for 12 days at all. To support our bodies, we drink our own urine and wait for something to be dropped,” the soldier stated.

Anatoliy Sashchuk also spoke about the communication situation. According to him, the Starlink at the position was destroyed, after which the soldiers were left with communication only via radio.

“Our Starlink was destroyed, and we only had communication by radio. We asked for a Starlink to be dropped, but we only received a ‘plus’ in response, and that was it. Our friends bought us a Starlink two weeks ago, but we only received it three days ago,” said the commander.

He separately stated problems with medications.

“We order medications and also receive them late, or sometimes not at all. Some of my servicemen were semi-conscious for several days due to lack of water and food,” Sashchuk claims.

According to him, the situation forced him to decide to leave the position without waiting for a planned replacement.

“I made the decision that I and my personnel are leaving the position without waiting for replacement, because we have neither the strength nor the ability to stay in positions. We are not refusing to serve, but we have no other way out. We are asking for a corridor for safe withdrawal from here and transport for evacuation,” the soldier stated.

What the command of the 121st brigade responded

The command of the 121st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine responded to the video message of the servicemen. They noted that the fighters are carrying out combat missions under the operational subordination of one of the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The brigade stated that food, medicine, and other necessary items are delivered by drones to hard-to-reach positions according to a set schedule. According to their data, 27 packages, each weighing about nine kilograms, were delivered to the unit over the month.

“However, the situation in this direction remains extremely difficult. Unfavorable weather conditions, constant enemy actions, and the operation of enemy electronic warfare systems sometimes hinder the timely and undamaged delivery of cargo,” the brigade reported.

The command noted that they are aware of the situation and support the servicemen.

“We understand the concern of the servicemen, we support each of them, and together with them, we share the difficulties that have arisen. The brigade commander is personally communicating with the soldiers and is aware of the situation that has developed,” the statement said.

At the same time, the 121st brigade emphasized that the information from the video message “does not reflect all the circumstances.”

The command also reported that they are working on the rotation of military personnel.

“The brigade command is doing everything possible to carry out the rotation in the near future – as soon as it can be done safely for the life and health of the personnel. For now, it is important not to expose the defenders to additional danger during movement,” the brigade stated.

The 121st brigade urged not to draw premature conclusions and not to spread information without considering the full context.

After information about the critical situation in the brigade appeared, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the removal of the previous commander of the 14th OMBr from his post, as well as the dismissal and demotion of the commander of the 10th Army Corps.
