Russian President Volodymyr Putin described the proposals for a peaceful settlement of the war against Ukraine, which he claims are coming to the Kremlin, as “exotic.” The Russian leader stated that Moscow considers some of these initiatives unacceptable but is ready to discuss them based on the situation on the battlefield.

Putin made these remarks in an interview with Kremlin propagandist Pavel Zarubin.

According to the Russian president, the Ukrainian authorities are allegedly trying to avoid a “catastrophic development” of the situation, but the trends on the front line, in his opinion, indicate the opposite.

“The proposals that are brought to us are sometimes, I would say, exotic in nature and are unacceptable,” Putin stated.

At the same time, he assured that the Kremlin allegedly does not refuse negotiations but is ready to conduct them only taking into account the current situation on the front line.

“We are always ready for dialogue, but only based on the realities that are developing on the ground,” the Russian president cynically declared.

However, Putin did not explain what specific “exotic” proposals he was referring to. He also did not name who they were coming from to the Kremlin, although he was asked to clarify the content of such initiatives.

Responding to this question, Putin said he did not want to reveal the details “now.” According to him, it is about “a peculiar set of various directions for possible agreements.”

“They have sounded one way or another before, but now in this situation, they are presented in their own way,” he said, adding that “it is too early to jump ahead and say what could form the basis of possible agreements.”

The Russian dictator, in fact, left his own statement about “exotic” peace proposals unexplained, so it is unknown what conditions and who exactly proposed them.

During his conversation with Zarubin, Putin also repeatedly touched his face. Such gestures in non-verbal communication can be associated with anxiety or stress, and also indicate that a person is hiding the truth or doubting their own words.

It is worth noting that against the backdrop of discussions about possible diplomatic contacts and international initiatives aimed at ending the war, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, stated that the Kremlin sees no grounds for optimism regarding the peaceful settlement.
